Dr Bottger was raised in Nebraska showing and raising horses and cattle, he did his undergraduate work at a small state school in western Nebraska.  He then obtained a master’s degree in beef cattle production management from the University of Wyoming.  After working in the cattle industry for 4 years he attended veterinary school at Kansas State University receiving his DVM in May of 2009.  After graduation from veterinary school he worked at an equine and small animal practice in Kansas City for a year.  He then moved to Texas to do exclusively equine for 2 years.  In 2012 he purchased a full mixed animal practice in Sioux City, Iowa where he practiced for 5 years before selling the practice.  He was presented with the opportunity to move to South Carolina to work in an equine referral hospital for two years.  He and his wife decided to return to the Gainesville Texas area to be closer to family and to the heart of the horse industry.  Dr Bottger has attended continuing education to become certified in animal chiropractic, as well as equine dentistry, lameness and reproduction.  Dr Bottger and his wife Barb raise and show reining horses and Dr Bottger practices large animal ambulatory medicine
